“…..the sharing or exchanging of intimate thoughts and feelings, especially when the exchange is on a spiritual level…”
Watching the world which is brought alarmingly to us every day, every hour, every minute through the instancy of network media, true communion is a desperate need. Each time the world breaks a little more, our hearts break a lot more.
We dedicated this Gathering to a more assertive call for heart sense in the world.
In the technological world of today, we believe the fallacy of being closer. It may be that we fool ourselves with a notion of sharing intimacy, but intimacy requires far more than network, it requires participation. In Communion we communicate and share in the same realities, properties or even problems with another person in an intimate relationship of internal affinity and likeness; it is more than participation in the sacrament of unified lives, it is the immersion into the oneness of being. Some may say communion is a relationship of recognition and acceptance, yet it is far more, it is a releasing of any dualism; it is the sacred meal that consumes the eater that becomes the food that others eat.
Communion was an ancient calling of the Old Ones, to return to the oneness, beyond individuality, beyond beliefs, beyond differences, beyond species, beyond life and death
We prayed, sang, danced and hoped to become the song, the breath, the heartbeat and nourishment of each other, believing such a feast would bring heaven to the supper table.
“As temples of the Spirit, we should have communion with the Spirit. The work of any believer is not only the work of a human individual, but is actually the work of the Spirit.”
Pope Shenouda III
Wonderful and gifted teachers, presenters and ceremonialists gathered to offer and share in communion, their wisdom and gifts with us all. We are honoured and grateful for the blessings that they generously bring and give.
Annie is a ceremonialist and workshop leader with an Oxford MA and a diploma in Humanistic Psychology, has been running groups and trainings for over 25 years including the groundbreaking Women’s Mysteries courses. Annie has co-founded a number of spiritual and healing initiatives within her community including Openings, the Bath based centre for therapies and group work; the Arcania programme (now The Sacred Trust) which has brought many indigenous teachers to Britain; and her own Hartwell, centre for shamanic and ceremonial ways. Her writing on earth mysteries, women’s mysteries and ceremony can be regularly found in many major publications. More recently, Annie has been developing work with young people: she has worked for ten years on an initiation ceremony in Vermont USA; and co designs camps for teenagers with Circle of Life Rediscovery, bringing earth based spiritual traditions to the youth of today. Annie has been making ceremony for young people’s movement into adulthood; marriages and handfastings; and women’s movement through the menopause for the past ten years. Annie presented an Evening Ceremony “Moving through the Great Wheel of Life and Death” in which we turned to all other living beings and, through gratitude, reminding us of our closeness to and intimacy with them. The most generous act asked of us is the great giveaway of life itself so that we may provide sustenance for those who come after. Each one of us will be called, in our time, to move through the transformation of death. In this ceremonial event we will explore that movement as we pass symbolically from one life to another, from one form of being to another.
Alleson & Jonn Lansel:
They presented, “Ebb & Flow” a remembering workshop; a remembering of our energetic relationship to the Cosmos. This was an experiential time together where we will learn a long forgotten energetic nurturing between ourselves & all living matter. We learnt how we assume our rightful place within this energetic exchange that is communion. Using guided meditation, journey work, & simple group toning we connected, released, received, & flowed.

Together with Cassandra Varteresian & Rob Murphy, they offered “Communion – Pathways to Healing”. In the world that we live in today, it seems that humans are more fragmented within themselves and from each other than ever before in history. In this workshop we came together in sacred circle to explore the journeys of healing and how spirit continues to lead shamanic/spiritual healers to discover these universal healing pathways. Like roots, our individual healing pathways grow from the same tree. Reaching up to commune with the spirit that is you, that is me, that is all. As we look at each pathway individually, you will be able to see how this is truth and how they flow together symbiotically. Each providing a unique passage for us to be in our hearts space and allow communion to be.
Cassandra DOMP (Can) / RMT, has been in clinical practice for the past 16 years providing services for manual osteopathy and registered massage therapy in North Vancouver B.C. Ceann-luil Seannair, Dr. John-Luke Edwards she has just recently become an initiated initiated Ceann-Iuil, Pathfinder of the Sagh’ic-Tire Dhream tradition. She is also a licensed Aoghair, Soul Gatherer and Smoker Dreamer of the tradition.
Along with Beatrice Simmons & Rob Murphy, in “Communion – Pathways to Healing”, they spoke to the origins of their healing methods and shared how the Love and Energy of Creation and the ancient calling of the Old Ones to return to the Oneness, to Communion are reflected in their work.
In addition to shamanic journeying, we used and demonstrated healing techniques as well as drumming, storytelling, and ceremony as tools to come into communion with the energy of all to bring about healing for all.
Christiana has been working with shamanism for nigh on twenty years in Finland. Life has taken her to Tuva where she worked with shamans for two years, continued her late husband’s research on Tuvan culture and shamanism which resulted in a film: In the Arms of Buddha and the Drum. She is an official shaman, red card holding member of Düngür the first Shaman Centre in Tuva. Heimo Lappalainen, Jonathan Horwitz, and Annette Höst were her first human introduction to shamanism. She teaches shamanic healing, gives workshops on birthing, shamanic drums and lectures on Tuvan shamanism in Finland. She is a keeper of Bees and a registered music and breathwork therapist and an Elder of Sagh’ic Tire Dhream. Christiana will be offered “One Breath, One Song, One Walk.”
Diana Tracy, & Fritz Muntean:
The Duo and friends presented an evening ritual pageant entitled “The Last Ancestor” which reminded us according to Sagh’ic Tradition how we as the Two Leggeds fell out of Communion with the world.
Diana Tracy and Fritz Muntean are experienced performers and leaders of ceremonial pageants in the broader, celebratory world of Mystery Religion. Fritz has a graduate degree in Religious Studies from UBC, and Diana is a veteran storyteller, singer and composer, as well as a master builder of masks, costumes, and strange puppets.
Diana will also offered “Woad The Blue Journey”. In this hands-on workshop we explored the deep relationship between the animate and inanimate, the gross and the microscopic, the deep intertwinement of all spirits, and the urge to beauty. Fiber from the cocoons of caterpillars, separated and spun into fabric, blue pigment extracted from plants and fermented to produce a colorfast dye, manipulation and decoration of the fabric, and meditation on our need for art will be our focus. Decorating and dyeing silk scarves, we followed the blue path of woad/indigo through the ages. We involved our minds, our bodies, and our muses to create something of beauty, and to feel the connection between ourselves and our world.
The Earth Standers
Stephanie, Sparrow, Joe, Nikiah, Tad & Jeff presented “Na Ródannaí Meala: The Honey Roads”. For uncounted years, the Bees have traveled the Honey Roads – connecting species after species with the trail they leave in their pursuit of Sweetness. The Bees are so interwoven into the seed, root, stem and blossoms of the world, that one mouthful of every three we take at every meal is only possible because of the tireless flight of the Bees as they travel the Honey Roads above and around us. The Bees are Unity. The Bees are constantly in communion with the whole. The Bees create sweetness that nourishes not just the one bee – but the whole of the hive. As they do this, their Unity connects almost the entire span of ecosystems in the world. The Bees face a time of fearsome crisis. The Bees are vanishing. There is much debate about the why of it, yet it seems to come back over and over to what human beings are doing in the way we live on this planet. This simple ceremony brought us together in unity with one another, and in communion with the Bees. It was a time of honouring, and offering both apology and strength to the Bees, which we humans might change, and the Bees endure this time of crisis

He offered early morning meditations, “Ar Lasadh – Ablaze!” and the Evening Ceremony “An Fiántas – The Wilds”– “I am Wind on Sea, Ocean-Wave, Roar of Sea, Mountain in Man, Blaze on Hilltop, a Tear the Sun Lets Fall…” These are some of the words sung by the great soul-singer Amergin in the ancient times of the world. But this kind of powerful experience of being the Wilds is not something lost in the winds of time. It was a calling felt deep in our bones, in the wildness of our souls, in the here and now. And how did we answer this calling? We sang it! We danced it! It was an evening ceremony of ecstatic song and dance – communing with the Wildness of the elements, the four-legged, the flight of wings, and the wonder without and within.

We held all of this within ourselves release it to make contributions to those we meet during and after the conference.

Karen has B.A. degrees in both Anthropology and Biblical Exegetics from Smith College, received a J.D. in Law from University of San Francisco, and hold a license as a California Real Estate Broker. In the real world, her passion has been the pursuit of “God” and self-improvement through Spirit-guided study within numerous disciplines and with various teachers. Major influences are Leslie Temple-Thurston, a teacher of enlightenment from South Africa; the Kabbalah Center which reveals the richness of Jewish mysticism; and the Lightsong School of Shamanic Studies where she had the opportunity to assist in classes and also to get practical experience as an energy worker and Holy Fire Reiki Master. A synthesis of teachings has enabled her to heal much of the trauma in her life. It is her hope that sharing some of what she has learnt will help others to heal themselves as well. In this vein, Karen offered, “Trusting Spirit: Enhancing Communion with the Divine.” Trust is the foundation of communion. Without it, there can be no truly satisfying connection with anyone, even Spirit. Conditioned fears, insecurities, even anger at the Godhead for all the perceived suffering in the world, release chemicals into the body that block our ability to trust Spirit fully. In effect, we hold back a part of ourselves; we hide behind subconscious walls to protect our hearts from a power inconceivably greater than ourselves. As a result, our shamanic capacities to see, hear, and feel all the wonders of the Divine are grossly inhibited even as we strive to make connection. In this workshop, we explored how to consciously increase our trust of Spirit by first learning about the neurobiology of trust, including how it can be triggered in the brain, and what hormones are involved. Then, we applied this knowledge through intention, chant, and gentle sacred dance, while simultaneously seeking to commune with Spirit. “When a fearless heart believes, miracles happen.” Anonymous

Each participant made their own personal Dreamcatcher. They then learnt how to journey through their Dreamcatcher to access their personal dream library. Together we were given the opportunity to reorganise, edit, delete and construct new dreams. Our goal was to aid a more tranquil calm mind, to produce better sleep patterns thus to nourish our one breath our one blood our one bone which is us all individually. But like this workshop, and the one meal, we all nourished the community.
Kevin also be offered a healing circle “Tools of the medicine man” using the world of nature so we could understand ancient healing tools.
Lauri facilitates connection between spirits, sound and humans through ceremony, her healing practice and coursework in shamanic sound healing. She is committed to people learning that they are not alone, and that they are supported by a council of spirits who orchestrate the perfection of their life’s path. She is moved by the plight of animals on earth and contributes to their healing in whatever way she can. She co-owns and runs a small retreat center (Hidden Lake Retreat) in the foothills of the Cascades, where most of her sound work is done. Lauri is an Associate Healer and Teacher at the LightSong School of Shamanic Studies and Energy Medicine, is the school/community’s ceremonial singer and lodge pourer, an elder and always a Student and Servant of the Divine. Lauri offered the Evening Ceremony of ‘Inner/Outer Frequencies of Communion’. We gatheed together to sing the song of love; to be that song sung by the stars, by our ancestors, by the trees, to the yearning Earth. Our sacred voices have been buried under a shroud—some shrouds made of “I can’t carry a tune”, “better seen than heard”, “the meek shall inherit the earth” or the harsher pervasive echo of “be quiet (shut up) and sit down”. In this ceremony, we invited and coaxed the sacred voice out of the shroud and into the community, for community, to facilitate songs and sounds of Communion, for the upliftment of all sentient beings. We may have wailed, weeped, and keened, sang dirges, and then joyously swooned lullabies, divine melodies and devotionals. We invited the power and wisdom of our sacred voices to transport us from polarized states in this worldly place, to an ascended state of peace, in communion with all that draws upon our hearts.

Medicine Shields are the manifestations of our relationship with the Elements, giving us a deeper understanding of ourselves and how we are all connected to each other. Linda said, “It was my goal to facilitate a journey to each Element for a communion of love and healing. Creating a Medicine Shield from the experiences of those journeys will result in a sacred object of beauty. A powerful sacred tool, infused with the powers of the Elements, ready to be given a purpose and a place. In this modern world it is easy to get caught up in the ‘rat race’ and forget our own self care. Medicine Shields ask us to remember the deeper connection, the communion of our souls with the Elements that make us unique and bind us together with this world we live in.
My Shield class came to me 25 years ago from the spirit of Medicine Shield Woman, I consider it her work. My class is unique to anything I’ve seen. Her guidance in the process is fundamental to the class. The participants will get to know her in an intimate way”.
Together with Melanie Monge, they presented “Reiki Circle, a Communion of Healing”. Reiki is a safe, gentle, noninvasive healing technique. It stimulates the body’s own natural healing process. Reiki carries no side effects, reduces stress and promotes deep relaxation. It is performed by using hand positions placed on or slightly above the body.
Melanie’s passion has always been horses. From the first time she saw one in a field she has been drawn to them. Because of that deep heart connection she began exploring what it means to live within the space of the heart.
In creating HeartSpace Horse Sanctuary and Healing Center she has brought many aspects of healing together. The beauty of Central Oregon with the Cascade Range as the backdrop offers the energetic setting that nurtures the diverse herd that has landed here. They have come to facilitate healing and transformation to all who come with open hearts and open minds. Most of her life has been that of seeking. Studying reiki with Colleen Benelli she is a Holy Fire Karuna Reiki Master. Additional training as a horse guided educator and coach through the Epona approach developed by Lind Kohanov gives her a base for the horse human work she is passionate about. Additionally, she is focused on animal healing combining Reiki, Shamanism and essential oils to create healing for her rescued animals in need. Several times a year she assists Sioux Strong in teaching animal reiki at her ranch as well as facilitating mask making workshops, etc. She has studied shamanism with Jan Engels-Smith and sound healing with Lauri Shainsky. Other interests are creative writing, mask making(masks of empowerment), beekeeping , gardening and other craft work.

She felt the calling through her guides to create safe and sacred space to all who want an embodied personal gateway into alternate realities. Her compassionate and skilled facilitation offers participants a way back to spirituality in the body through ecstatic trance dance. Marcia offered “Tribal Spirit Dance: A 5Rhythms® Trance Dance Journey“. Indigenous peoples from around the globe have used ancient movement rituals to awaken the mind-body-soul connection of individuals and to unify a tribe. Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms® dance is a simple and powerful method to deepen embodiment through movement-based trance states. We had the opportunity to learn of the 5 sacred Rhythms: Flowing Staccato Chaos Lyrical Stillness™ and use them as our gateway to journey. Using live drums and recorded music we supported each other to dive deep into opening our bodies as vessels for connection to Spirits. We used the 5Rhythms to honor the elements, our ancestors, descendants, all Spirit beings and ourselves in communion. We danced, journeyed and shared our experiences with each other.
She invited us to come dance to journey, connect to spirits, heal, restore balance and transform and ignite our souls.
Meg is a shamanic teacher, Energy Alchemy expert, and author of Living in the Heart of the Universe: Expanding Your Relationship with Earth and the Cosmos. Her passion is growing a soul-centered connection with the beauty of all that is. She is the founder of Earth Caretakers, dedicated to bringing to life our collective dream of a more beautiful world. Meg’s roots are Andean/Q’ero ways of deep connection with the land, reciprocity, and community; Medicine for the Earth; and Western “core” shamanism. The three legs of her stool (in an African way of seeing) are earth, water, and stars. She has practiced meditation and shamanism for half her life. A life-long explorer of wholeness and consciousness, Meg has traveled extensively, from the high mountains of the Andes and Himalayas to the savannahs of Africa and the jungles of the Amazon. Integrating her experience with shamanism, meditation, Andean energy healing, and Qigong galvanized Meg to create Energy Alchemy, her system for changing suffering and blockages into joy through reconnection with nature. She lives on Sonoma Mountain in the San Francisco Bay Area. Meg offered a healing circle “Making Friends with Your Shadow”, creating a different relationship with shadow, honouring, appreciating, learning from it is the basis of the Cambodian “demon altar” which this healing is based on. She will also offered, “Deepening Your Relationship to Earth and the Cosmos”. This experiential workshop focused on developing skills and tools for releasing dense and “heavy” perceptions, gathering in the more refined light of the cosmos, and transforming our own energy and awareness on an ongoing basis. It grounded experiential practice in the perceptual framework of reciprocity and connection that supported Inca/Q’ero culture. Andean cosmology, still at the center of the life and traditions of the Inca/Q’ero people, offers profoundly simple and practical ways of working with the “living energy” of the universe, and shifting our perceptions to affect our actions, beliefs, and ways of being.

Mya offered “Rise and Shine Devotional Flow”, early morning yoga, which was light, fun, and a devotional, offering to wake up for the body, the spirit and the heart. There was movement for every body and ability so that we could shake off anything that no longer served and open up to the light within, preparing ourselves to be at our truest for the deep work we embarked on throughout the conference. The class was gentle and loving, but deep enough to ignite the inner fire, Agni, that burns bright inside of each and every one of us.

Nataraj & Tina offered “Feast of the sacred Heart”, which through acts of communion in an intimate setting. It was an opportunity to participate in the sharing that brings community together and allows us to give of ourselves that we may remember who we truly are. It was a time for coming together, to honor the beauty and sacredness of life, to connect more deeply to life’s abundance and light with renewed passion and a transformed sense of self in relationship to others. In a surround of ceremony and love we explored the intimate nature of sharing, storytelling and feasting to deepen our experience of the five senses and to cultivate intimacy and compassion. In so doing, we nourished our hearts and brought wisdom and vision to our lives. We did this in an environment of love, connection, surrender and forgiveness, that this union might create a ripple and stir healing individually, collectively and globally. we acknowledge and honor the teaching of the Sacred Garden as inspired by the work of John-Luke Edwards, Hank Wesselman and Jhaimy Alvarez-Acosta. We as humans have destroyed and are destroying our earth and her children, ourselves included. Strangely enough we constantly are looking outside ourselves for healing when the only way to heal the earth and her beloved children, is to heal ourselves first. In the ceremonial workshop we came back to ourselves in communion with the elements as our first ancestors, taking the example of the bees and working to apply a change in our lives. This was done partly through story telling, soul work and journey as well as practical application.
Quynn Red Mountain:
Called “OOlah” by her Spirit Guardians, (which means One Who Balances) Quynn Red Mountain is a shamanic practitioner, spiritual mentor and ceremonial artist. She is the ordained Animist Minister for Earth Web Media’s “Web of Life Church”. She is also the founder of “The Institute for the Shamanic Arts” (the spiritual education branch of EWM), and Producer of the “Earth Tribe Network” ( EWM’s Animist Outreach Media). Called to the shamanic path by a surreal experience in 1996, Quynn helps people heal their spirit, and hone their abilities.
In every culture, throughout time, stressful situations have caused people to do things that they would not normally do, or otherwise choose to do, to survive. These choices become embedded in their DNA, and the remnants are passed down into our DNA, our memories, and behaviors. This behavior is often called “Passing”.
Quynn offered “Communing with the Passed”, a ceremonial circle which used shamanic journey, altar creation, and sharing of stories, to explore the ways in which we “pass”, and our family members have passed in the past. The purpose was not to beat ourselves up for these choices, or to necessarily drop this behavior immediately in a way that will cause ourselves social harm. The purpose of the circle is to honor our ancestor’s choices, to commune with them in this safe time and place, so we can work together to be Warriors of Love more fully in our world today. She also offered a healing circle “Rainbow Gateway Healing Circle”

He will offered “Journeys to the Ceremony of Communion”. We live in a world, though seemingly growing smaller and closer together physically speaking, where we don’t truly listen, truly share, truly commune with our family, our tribe, much less with the greater world at large. It is more about us, continually building greater and greater barriers between “others” and ourselves, as we make sure that no one gets a bigger share of the pie than we do. In this workshop we came together in sacred circle to explore through shared partner journeys for each other as a means of, at least momentarily, shedding our duality and through communion with our partners, open ourselves to being and sharing our oneness. It was in these journeys that we learnt that song of “Communion,” that we can sing each day as a part of our spiritual practice to remind us of our oneness with all creation. Along with Beatrice Simmons & Cassandra Varteresian, he jointly presented “Communion – Pathways to Healing”, so that as we are no longer restricting the magical flow of the elements finding their way to balance in communion in ourselves, we can find the doors within ourselves to the sanctuary within us to meet the innermost presence as it lives in everything, so our prayers can be complete. We can reach out to hold hands and become pilgrims to our sacred places in ourselves and in the community. We are within each other all along. And to speak in Rumi’s words: “There is some kiss we want with our whole lives, the touch of Spirit on the body”.

Tad presented the Ceremony “The Soul Doll, Your Whole and Healed Self”, in which we journeyed to find the spirit that embodies their whole and healed self. Together we created a soul doll out of clay, as a vessel and enliven the vessel with this spirit. We were guided through ceremony to help us understand how to care for and commune with this externalization of the whole and healed self.

It was our Intention for this and all Conferences & Gatherings presentations in common to raise a consciousness of forgiveness & surrender as part of our commitment to global harmony and the deepening equal relationship between all the children of the Earth and the Spirits. Such is a committed prayer in Spirit to the survival of our planet and in hope for our species.
Through and by this Gathering as with all our Gatherings, we supported Reforestation and demarcation of ancestral lands of The Pataxó People and the People of The Guarani in the Brazilian forest, and the continued support and sponsorship of a boy and girl in Mali, a girl child in India and a boy in Nepal. We have also taken on supporting an SOS village in Nepal.
We were supporting Star Temple Animal Rescue Home (STARC) which is part of JC Fundraising Mexico. This organisation is set up by Jaden Cornelious to care for, rescue and provide community neutering and spaying for abandoned street dogs in Mexico.
This Conference was as always, prescribed by direct spirit intervention and was a full conference of morning meditations, morning focus plenaries on the relationship between humans through the ancient rituals of keening. Along with afternoon choices of workshops and teachings, healings, ceremonies, each day culminated in an Evening Ceremony for the whole gathering, to consolidate and celebrate the day’s work and prepare for the following day.
