The Art of Stillness – Saturday, June 13, 2015 – Water Valley Church/Events Centre
The Art of Stillness began with the story of the Ocean, the Lightning and the Great Tree. We spent the morning exploring the richness of being a part of the ancient conversations all around us – between the Dreaming Earth and skies above. We honoured the magic of the hands – the many things we had created, touched in the world…and the many things in life that had touched our hearts. We worked with the Gaelic phrase Tá tú in éineacht liom mar lámhlorg ar mo chroí – ‘You are with me like a handprint on my heart’.
We had a rich a beautiful weaving of time around the One Breath that breathes all of us.
The afternoon anchored around a spiral walking meditation, and the power of blessings and burdens in our lives. Then, we settled in with the magic of Honey and Holy Water – and opened to the senses, and the power they have to bring us stillness and focus….it was time of letting go, and embracing the new beginnings always before us.
We ended the day creating a shared bundle of gratitude, of dreams – and of hopes and prayers on behalf of others. The bundle held symbols of each of these, plenty of chocolate (for the sweetness of life), feathers (to give these hopes and dreams wings), and blossoms (marking the beauty of each moment in time). The bundle was later offered to Grandfather Fire.
It was a beautiful day!
